HEMATITE is a mineral species composed of iron oxide.
It is a black to silver-grey, brown to red or red mineral, with many crystalline forms.
The name HEMATITE comes from the Latin haematites, meaning ‘blood’.
Before it was used in jewellery, hematite was used as a pigment for painting. In the Palaeolithic era, homo sapins crushed the stone to obtain a red powder.
Toning, strengthening and purifying, HEMATITE has many physical properties, making it an asset in lithotherapy.
Deposits are found in Brazil, Italy, France, North America, South Africa, Russia, China, New Zealand, India and Liberia.
