Most natural GREY DIAMONDS were formed in conditions of very high temperature and pressure at depths of 140 to 190 kilometres in the Earth's mantle. They took between 1 and 3.3 billion years to grow (between 25 and 75% of the Earth's age).
The element hydrogen gives diamonds their grey colour. This colour is not as dark as you might think. On the contrary, it has a chic and fascinating metallic glow.
In addition to its spiritual power, the diamond possesses invincible hardness and has been known since ancient times as a "stone of invincibility", bringing its wearer victory, superior strength, fortitude and courage. It is associated with lightning and fearlessness, and for its protective properties.
In the 19th and 20th centuries, Brazil was the world's largest diamond producer, but today it is Africa that produces the most diamonds worldwide, notably in Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola and Namibia. In addition to Africa, Russia, Australia and Canada are other major diamond producers.
